Valheim Spotlight – Dunholm’s War Hall

Nestled quietly in an otherwise unassuming node in the black forest south of the Central Sea, Dunholm sits atop a hill that straddles a river down one slope, and a sleepy swamp on the other. Fortified to withstand assaults from land and sea, the castle is protected from any sort of constant threats most Valheim bases might endure. Within Dunholm, one can truly be at ease from the raiding mobs from beyond. Founded early in the First Expansion Age of the Show Boys private server, Dunholm is in a region vastly undisturbed by the daily happenings of the world. The land around it also remains well preserved as its construction materials are imported from the southern end of the continent and beyond. This helps keep the fortress hidden and less traveled from those on adventures.

War Hall – early interior

Dunholm’s first structure was it’s War Hall, a circular yurt style tower with a main floor geared to crafting, storage and generally a hub to all pre and post adventure needs. The second floor acts as a portal hub and access to the castles extended ramparts to adjacent buildings in the castle. Large and spacious yet compact, it offers an organic flow to repairs, storage and stocking up on key items. It remains to this day, the main hub of Dunholm even as activities such as cooking are channeled toward the Cook’s Hall, R&R and deep storage to the Armory and most recently, materials processing to the Shipyard.

War Hall under construction, first floor foundation

In the early days, the War Hall served as the first bastion of safety from the greylings and the violent storms of Valheim. Built on the cusp of the hill on the river side of Dunholm, the War Hall was easily defensible through its main doors, and for a quick exit you could leap out the vista window overlooking the river, with enough health of course to survive the fall. The hall was an early pilot of being able to make both an impenetrable structure that was also aesthetically pleasing and provided views to the outside – even the keenest of adventurers would find it difficult to get inside through the vista window, the only other way in beside the main doors, and with the placement of an inner ward, only a select few have access to the structure.
